Fought and Company, and affiliate REFA Erection, Inc. celebrated the topping out of the Autzen Stadium jumbo upgrade at the end of July, 2020.
Oregon's Autzen Stadium received a major video and audio upgrade this off-season, something that made enthusiastic Oregon Duck fans cheer loudly. The project’s anticipated to cost were $20 million and involved the removal of the small video board to the left of the east end zone, replacing it with a new jumbo 186’ x 66’ video screen located in line with the east end of the stadium. The new steel structure houses a smaller outward-facing 47’ x 26’ video board that’s used on event days to communicate with and entertain patrons.
The square footage of Oregon's 186’ x 66’ video screen makes it the largest in college football and even bigger than most NFL stadiums. At 12,276 square feet, the video board is larger than that of Auburn's 10,830 square foot video screen and even larger than AT&T Stadium's massive 11,520 square foot screen.
The new outdoor sound system provides high speech intelligibility and quality music reproduction with even coverage and levels capable of overcoming crowd noise. The multi-point speaker cluster is suspended above the center of the video board mounted directly to the new steel structure behind the giant yellow Oregon “O.” Returning spectators will need to brace themselves for excited fan’s reacting as the audio inevitably rocks the customary playing of “Shout" at an extreme decibel level!
The Ducks opened the scaled back 2020 football season on November 7th with a 35-14 win over Stanford University. They then went on to capture the Pac-12 Championship with a hard fought 31-24 win over a formidable USC team. The Ducks finished the 4-3 season with a 17-34 loss to Iowa State in the Fiesta Bow at Glendale, AZ.
