White Pass & Yukon Route Railway.

Fought Contributes to the Legacy of the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway.

Skagway, Alaska

There is no railroad quite like the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway, a Canadian and U.S. railroad linking the port of Skagway, Alaska, with Whitehorse, the capital of Yukon. An isolated system, it has no direct connection to any other railroad. Equipment, freight and passengers are ferried by ship through the Port of Skagway, and via road through a few of the stops along its route.

Against all odds, this iron trail was born because of the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush and built through some of the most rugged and spectacular terrain in the world. With its completion in 1900, it became the primary route to the interior of the Yukon. The route continued operation until 1982, and in 1988 was partially revived as a heritage railway where scenic tour operations continue today.

Fought & Co. built a new 36 foot bridge connecting to an existing retrofitted bridge for a total span of 72 feet. We’re excited to contribute to the legacy and future of the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway.
